I am a composer, performer and media artist mostly devoted to work with the relationship between real-world phenomena (particularly sound, movement and space) and digital tools. I studied composition with Rosario Mirigliano and electronic music with Marco Ligabue in the conservatory of Florence. I also studied with Pierluigi Billone, George Aperghis, Tristan Murail, Beat Furrer and Yan Maresz, among others, and I participated to the IRCAM's Cursus in Paris (2013-2014). My background is otherwise rooted in progressive and psychedelic rock, free improvisation and IDM electronic music and I've been part of several bands as guitarist, electronic musician or composer/arranger, where I developed a strong need for collective, participated creative practices. Currently I am a doctoral candidate in the department of Media, in the school of Arts, Architecture and Design of Aalto University of Helsinki.
With my work, that include music compositions, installations and mixed media performances, I seek to investigate compositional and performative aspects of interconnected audiovisual ecosystems, where real-word phenomena extend in the virtual digital world and complex feedback networks are established between the two realm.
With media artist Roberto Pugliese I am a founding member of quietSpeaker, a duo creating audiovisual performances and interactive installations.
I am also in the board of the music association Äänen Lumo, to promote experimental music in Helsinki. I am a strong supporter of open culture and copyleft. In 2012 I participated in the organising panel of the festival CopyleftDays, a cycle of event and talks to rethink copyright in the internet era, hosted in Teatro Valle Occupato in Rome.
My works have been written preferably together with specific performers from various backgrounds, through long-lasting collaborations and have been performed in Europe and Usa, for institutions such as Ircam (Paris), Biennale Musica (Venice), Ars Electronica (Linz), Impuls and KUG (Graz), Muziekcentrum De Bijloke (Ghent), Centre Henri Pousseur (Liege), STUK (Leuven), Boston University (Boston), Nuova Consonanza (Roma), Sibelius Academy (Helsinki) and others.
